Epic Games Store Prepares A Dozen Free Games [VIDEO]

Tim Sweeney’s digital Epic Games Store, which recently turned one year old, is going to expand its freebie deal a bit.

Recently, the Epic Games Store has been swapping the free games each week – the current free title is The Wolf Among Us, whose sequel was re-announced during The Game Awards by the reborn Telltale (discussed yesterday). After that, we can prepare for a daily freebie – Epic Games Store wants us to look at the EGS more often, or to install the Epic Games Store Launcher. (If you play Fortnite, you already have it, so you have somewhat an easier task.)

We don’t know what the freebies will be, but the deals will start on December 19, meaning the offer will effectively go until 2019 ends. Until then, The Game Awards sale is happening for those who use more than Steam on PC. A few examples of AAA games currently discounted: Borderlands 3 is 35% off, The Outer Worlds has a 25% discount, Control is 33% cheaper than usual, Metro Exodus’ price is halved, Rainbow Six Siege is 60% off, and The Division 2’s price is just 1/4 of its usual.

The holiday sale will start on December 19 as well, meaning the Epic Games Store is copying Steam here (that is the best time to spend your hard-earned pennies on one-dollar shovelware). We don’t know what Tim Sweeney and co are preparing for that sale yet. The freebies might stop in 2020.

If EGS is bold, they will pull out one of the Epic Games Store-exclusive AAA titles as a freebie – they have spent most of 2019 on setting up such deals. We’ll see in a couple of days if that will happen. (What will Steam do?) Until then, here’s a trailer that self-promotes the Epic Games Store.

Still, she likes puzzle and story-oriented games, like Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, which is her favourite title. She also played The Sims 3, but after accidentally killing a whole sim family, swore not to play it again. (For our office address, email and phone number check out our IMPRESSUM)
