Bethesda Game Studios (BGS) is getting an update that perhaps should have been provided to players when the game was released.

Yesterday, they held their first Fallout Day broadcast. In it, BGS announced that Fallout 76 will be getting its first true MMO-style endgame raid, Gleaming Depths. Coming with the December update, it involves a mysterious underground research lab in the Ash Heap region, where the Enclave used to study radioactive ultracite. The lab is abandoned and full of monsters and robots. There are five major battles to prepare for.

Four well-equipped players can take on the challenges on site. In the end, the Ultracite Terror emerges, which BGS has called the game’s biggest boss to date, and may be the most dangerous enemy in the Fallout franchise to date. Fallout 76 will keep up with the times by allowing you to craft four-star Legendary gear, which will certainly be a big help in defeating the raid.

Several MMO innovations are coming to the six-year-old game. Player titles are made up of two parts, which can be purchased separately or combined to create a unique title. At the request of the community, C.A.M.P. pets will also make an appearance. For starters, a dog and a cat will be coming to Fallout 76, and you’ll be able to find them on our base. They will be able to interact with unique pet items (for example, the dog can jump on a pile of bones). You can also pet them and customize their collars.

BGS added that the Ghoul character class will be available to players in early 2025. They’re immune to radiation (in fact, they heal from it and gain unique abilities from it), they don’t have a hunger/thirst bar. Instead, they will have a different feral meter, which can sometimes be useful. They will also have unique perk cards. Some factions won’t like them, but you can trick them in some way.

Fallout 76 is free to play for one week, ending October 29. The game’s currency, Atom, is available at a discount in the in-game store, and all episodes of the franchise are on sale everywhere.
