It’s been almost ten years since The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt was released for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC, but that doesn’t change the popularity of The Witcher franchise. It helped that Andrzej Sapkowski’s work was adapted into a series that’s popular on Netflix (since CD Projekt wasn’t working with a completely new IP). The Witcher’s success has also been helped by the mods, which have added a lot of great extra content to the story of Geralt of Rivia.

Not only has CD Projekt opened its studios in North America (its Boston studio is currently developing the sequel to Cyberpunk 2077), but its playtesting program is now available in the region, allowing more fans to try out CD Projekt RED’s (CDPR) upcoming titles. To be eligible, applicants in North America must be at least 16 years old, not work in the games industry, and have an influence on the company’s projects in development.

The game mechanics, storytelling, and character development can all be influenced by the testers (being a Polish studio, it makes sense that this program would be launched first in the European region), who in turn receive exclusive goodies from CDPR as they are influenced by the fans from early development all the way through the production process, The final shape of The Witcher 4, for example, which, like its sequel Cyberpunk 2077, is probably several years away from release, and therefore it’s hard to know what they’ll be released for (by which time PlayStation 6 and next-generation Xbox could be in stores).

Hopefully the results won’t be as bad as Cyberpunk 2077’s release.
