Last week, we heard from the Irish High Court that Conor McGregor, an MMA (mixed martial arts) fighter, was found guilty after assaulting and raping a woman in December 2018. IO Interactive (now working on Project 007 with a young James Bond), known for Hitman, immediately backed away from McGregor because one of the characters in Hitman: World of Assassination was played by the fighter!

He was one of the Elusive Targets in the game, as The Disruptor was McGregor. There was a mission and a DLC pack that gave you permanent access to an arcade contract and cosmetic items related to him. However, after the court ruling, IO Interactive no longer wants to work with him, so all McGregor-related content will be removed from Hitman: World of Assassination, and this announcement can be read on Twitter:

“In light of the recent court ruling regarding Conor McGregor, IO Interactive has made the decision to end its relationship with the athlete, effective immediately. e take this matter very seriously and cannot ignore its implications. As a result, we will begin removing all content featuring Mr. McGregor from our storefronts today,” the studio wrote.

However, The Disruptor has recently reappeared in the game, with a limited-time mission available until December 8th. So we can kiss it goodbye, and there is still a question mark over what will happen to those who have already purchased the McGregor DLC. Will they keep the content or get their money back? Usually, the former scenario is the most common in such cases.

McGregor will have to pay at least $248,000 in damages, but has already announced that he will appeal the ruling. In the meantime, don’t look for the fighter in IO Interactive’s game…
