Meanwhile, the release date seems surprising, if indeed the new console from the big N will hit stores if the rumors are true… and meanwhile, Nintendo continues its crusade against pirates.

The Nintendo Prime video embedded below contains a new rumor about the yet-to-be officially christened Switch successor. It says that the new hardware will be announced in January. This would also coincide with the official information from the big N (the announcement will be made at the end of the fiscal year, at the end of March), but then the rumor takes a rather interesting turn as to when the new platform might be released!

Supposedly, the Switch 2 could be in stores in March, presumably by the end of March, and around 650,000 units have already been shipped to various regions, as a lot of parts have been produced since September. A random Chinese forum post is usually not reliable, but as Reddit says, the person has been accurate about the big N many times and has since deleted all of his posts. For example, he was correct about The Legend of Heroes: Trials in the Sky The First remake, and since these things are hard to find out, he probably has inside information.

Let’s move on to how Nintendo is fighting piracy these days. The Game File reported that after a lawsuit was filed in U.S. federal court, the company started an investigation against James Williams (Archbox, a well-known Switch modder) and obtained more data. He is now requesting relevant business data from Name Cheap, Go Daddy, and Tucows, as well as a quintet of Cloudflare, GitHub, Discord, Google, and Reddit to help identify those who assisted the modder in his illegal activities. In the case of Reddit, Nintendo created the SwitchPirates subreddit, moderated by Archbox, which has over 200,000 members. According to them, several accounts are linked to Archbox and other users have also helped the modder’s activities, and if the others are identified, they will be prosecuted.
