During an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Ritchie described Fountain of Youth as “in the vein of Indiana Jones but contemporary.” The official images show the story of two estranged siblings, Luke and Charlotte Purdue (played by John Krasinski and Natalie Portman), who reunite to find the mythical Fountain of Youth. Ritchie explained his motivation for breaking away from his usual style:

“I felt like if I wasn’t careful, I’d end up stuck in the action-comedy-gangster genre. Of course, I’m comfortable there, but at some point, you need to spread your wings as a writer-director.”

The cast includes Krasinski, Portman, Domhnall Gleeson, Carmen Ejogo, Laz Alonso, Stanley Tucci, and Eiza Gonzalez. Krasinski and Portman’s characters, both with archeological backgrounds, must put aside their differences to achieve their goal.

“They have a shared history of archaeological pursuits, which ties them together. Though estranged, they find a reason to work together for this unique treasure,” Ritchie explained.

John Krasinski, recently named PEOPLE’s 2024 Sexiest Man Alive, dives into a new role that promises plenty of action. True to Ritchie’s style, Fountain of Youth features elaborate stunts and globetrotting adventures. Portman teased that the shoot was unforgettable:

“I’d never been to Cairo or Vienna before, and they blew me away. We also had a crazy car chase in Liverpool and an incredible sunken ship scene in London. Every day was a thrilling challenge with stunts and wild scenarios. It was pure fun.”

Whether or not the characters find the mythical Fountain of Youth remains a mystery, but audiences can expect an Indiana Jones-like journey filled with surprises. Ritchie emphasized that his films are made for everyone in his family to enjoy:

“I make movies for a specific audience, and that audience is my family. I can sit with my five kids — or at least I think I have five — and there’s something for everyone in my films.”

Fountain of Youth: Star-Studded Cast and Exotic Locations
