War Thunder is a free military simulator. More than once, war information has appeared in its forum. This time it happened again, after the Eurofighter Typhoon appeared in War Thunder. A debate arose on the forum about the CAPTOR radar system of the plane, and someone shared a secret document to support his claim. This user was banned and the material was removed. This has happened before, so the tradition continues.

A community manager for War Thunder also responded to the matter on the forums. They wrote this post: “I would like to take this opportunity to remind everyone here once again, please do not under any circumstances attempt to post or share any sources unless you are 100% certain that they are legally cleared and safe for public use. We will never edit or use them, and all it does is actively harm any possible future changes that might be possible by trying to use them. Do not do it. No good will ever come of it for you or the vehicle you are trying to post for.”

The news was quickly picked up by websites of reputable defense institutions such as the UK’s Defence Journal. But it really is a tradition that someone leaks around War Thunder during the holidays. It was the same last year when some documents about the Eurofighter Typhoon were leaked in September. In any case, the moderators must have had some pretty uncomfortable moments, because their job is to keep the community in order so that they can enjoy what could be called a fun military simulation, but in doing so, they also get dragged into the politics of international espionage.

Gaijin Entertainment’s game was released on August 15, 2013 for PC, but has since made its way to PlayStation 4, Mac, Linux, Android, Xbox One, and PlayStation 5. The official release date was December 21, 2016, eight years ago.
