While SEGA is reluctant to name the people behind the project, the Japanese publisher has already revealed that it’s not a bunch of developers working on the new Sonic Racing title.

Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds was announced during The Game Awards. Fans suspect that SEGA is developing in-house this time: it’s likely that SEGA AM2 is working on the game, of which only a short teaser was shown at the last major gaming industry event in 2024. In the video, Shadow the Hedgehog drives his car in a real city, then enters a warp ring and continues the race on the other side of a dimensional portal. There was no gameplay in the video, of course, and we’ll definitely have to wait until 2025 for that.

Several tweets from the official Japanese Sega and Sonic accounts mention that Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds is being developed by Sega's elite racing game team
