S.T.A.L.K.E.R.<\/strong><\/em>‘s history is a little chaotic – the first game in the series, S.T.A.L.K.E.R<\/strong><\/em>.: Shadow of Chernobyl launched in early 2007, but before that, GSC Game World<\/strong><\/em> kept pushing the release date back several times for this survival horror game, which was set in a post-catastrophic Chernobyl region. The franchise got two more games (Clear Sky, Call of Pripyat), but neither was called S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2<\/strong><\/em>.<\/p>\n S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2<\/strong><\/em> itself has an even more complicated story than the first game – it was announced in 2010, with a 2012 release year set. However, the original dev team left GSC Game World<\/strong><\/em>, and they formed Vostok Games. They first made a F2P MMOFPS (Survarium), then they tried to get money on Kickstarter for a spiritual successor for S.T.A.L.K.E.R.<\/strong><\/em> (Areal – they got the money, but the campaign was suspended two days before it ended…), and now, they are working on Fear The Wolves (S.T.A.L.K.E.R. + battle royale…)<\/p>\n However, GSC Game World is now working on S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2<\/strong><\/em> (again?), and the release year itself is already confirmed to be 2021! Perhaps this is their method to not slide back the release by a few years, lol… however, they only released Cossacks 3 since Call of Pripyat.
