MOVIE NEWS – ProductionWeekly has new information regarding when Dungeons & Dragons‘ shooting is going to start.

It means the movie is preparing to be created, which is about time, as it was in pre-production since 2015, but it’s still questionable whether Chris McKay, who was mentioned in February to be the director, would still have this role. The action-adventure-comedy film’s scriptwriter will be Michael Gillio, and the directors will be Stephen Davis, as well as Brian Goldner, the latter being the CEO of Hasbro. ProductionWeekly claims Shari Hanson would also be a producer – he was J.J. Abrams’ Star Wars film’s visual effects producer, and he also worked with him on Mission Impossible 3.

Something has changed since 2015, though: Warner isn’t responsible for the cinematic adaptation of the RPG anymore – Hasbro’s AllSpark Pictures has taken over. The latter company signed Paramount to be the distributor of the movie.

Two questions remain – Ansel Elgort was previously mentioned to be in the lead role, but a lawsuit for Dungeons & Dragons‘ ownership rights between Sweetpea Entertainment and Hasbro didn’t help Warner. Also, Mckay should be making a Nightwing film for Warner, but since Titans, another DC franchise, got a second season, it might not happen.

Dungeons & Dragons‘ shooting should be starting next summer, with the movie hitting the cinemas in 2021.
