The creators of The Witcher don’t want people to have any doubt: just because Cyberpunk 2077 uses an FPS view, its genre hasn’t changed.

It is evident that Cyberpunk 2077 is one of the biggest releases of the year and players are looking forward to tasting it, and more after the different delays it has suffered. One of the big surprises, when the game was revealed, was the use of the first person in the handling of our character. It appears that this continues to create confusion in the community and CD Projekt does not want any doubts.

In a recent interview, level designer Miles Tost wanted to make it clear that the game is not a shooter, as much as some players want to see it that way. “I think some people see this game and think ‘Oh! It’s first-person and it has guns! It’s a shooter’, and that’s a very superficial assessment,” he said. Cyberpunk 2077 is an RPG.

The CD Projekt worker even seemed somewhat annoyed at having to explain this: “I think people tend to forget that Cyberpunk 2077 is first and foremost an RPG. You have the talents, how your character looks, how you choose the dialogue … those elements are at the center of this experience,” insisted Tost.

„Cyberpunk 2077 is, in many ways, a much deeper RPG experience than The Witcher 3.” – Miles Tost

In fact, something very important that Tost commented is that he believes that Cyberpunk 2077 is “in many ways a much, much deeper RPG experience than The Witcher 3.” CD Projekt seems to be dealing with different issues after making its game in first person, because other than that it was not received very well by some players, the design of the melee combat has been a headache for the studio.

We recently had new news about the title, like how the game will arrive on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on November 19th, and we could see that our origin will influence the development of the game, in addition to the tremendous arsenal that CD Projekt is preparing to distribute left and right when we have Cyberpunk 2077 in our hands.
