Activision Blizzard‘s game – unsurprisingly – continues to deliver a lot of money.

Everyone is preparing for the end of the year, which is why we weren’t surprised to hear that Treyarch announced that this year’s Call of Duty’s, as well as the free-to-play Call of Duty: Warzone‘s update has been delayed. Instead of coming on December 9, it will drop on December 16. Until then, a double XP weekend will run from December 12 (10 AM Pacific) until the season launches. There will also be two free cosmetic bundles if we log into Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War between December 8 and December 15.

The Field Research Bundle includes 1 Epic Operator Skin (Park), 1 Epic SMG Weapon Blueprint, 1 Epic Reticle, 1 Epic Calling Card, 1 Rare Weapon Charm. The Certified Bundle includes 1 Epic Operator Skin (Garcia), 1 Rare Assault Rifle Weapon Blueprint, 1 Epic Reticle, 1 Epic Weapon Charm. The devs also announced how the games will be updated. Call of Duty: Warzone’s updates are teased as such: „Battle Royale is set to go beyond Verdansk — prepare to drop into a new Warzone map and mode at launch. Warzone’s arsenal gets even bigger with over 30 Black Ops Cold War base weapons, as well as Blueprint variants! Also, make sure you’re ready to face down fellow prisoners of Warzone in a new Gulag experience.”

And here’s what they promise for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War: „Prepare for an incredible amount of free content in Black Ops Cold War, including new multiplayer maps, new and fan-favourite 6v6 modes and playlists, the return of 2v2 Gunfight with four new maps, and a massive new Fireteam map. This offering includes a battle through a sprawling luxury complex within the Hollywood Hills of Los Angeles. That’s right: the legendary Call of Duty: Black Ops II 6v6 map known as Raid will be ready to play in Black Ops Cold War at Season One launch.”

Activision Blizzard has also announced that as the Call of Duty franchise „shifts to a shared ecosystem business model,” has surpassed over 3 billion dollars in net bookings, which is a metric for total sales, including all game sales, DLC, merchandise, everything. The „net bookings [are] up over 80% and units sold through up over 40% year over year. Over 200 million people have played Call of Duty this year,” according to the publisher, which added that „the franchise has delivered the highest number of players in recorded history this year.”

„The momentum over the last year across the Call of Duty ecosystem from free-to-play Warzone as well as post-launch support of Modern Warfare, and now to Black Ops Cold War has been incredible […] We are focused on building a continuous pipeline featuring a tremendous amount of free, post-launch content and events across the franchise,” Activision EVP and general manager of Call of Duty Byron Beede wrote.

Money talks.
