The next game of Bloober Team (Blair Witch, Observer, Layers of Fear) grabs our attention by having a live-action trailer.

This short film was created with the help of Platige Image (an award-winning visual effects and animation studio), and an Oscar-award nominee Tomasz Bagiński, who served as the film’s writer and creative producer. The director of the trailer was Pawel Maslona.

„The Medium is a game with a very strong narrative backbone. The most important thing for me was to understand what the essence of this story is, who its heroes are and its tone. The task was to lean as hard as possible on the emotional side of the story while trying to keep as many of the twists as possible a secret. The script is supposed to build a certain mood rather than reveal a story,” said Bagiński in a press release.

„The Medium is our biggest and most ambitious project to date. When we thought who could write a live-action trailer for the game, Tomasz Bagiński quickly became the most natural choice. After all, his Oscar-nominated The Cathedral was also inspired by the art of Zdzisław Beksiński, just like the spirit world in our game. I’m personally very happy that we could create something together,” Bloober Team CEO Piotr Babieno added. They easily put together the spiritual, otherwordly tone and feel that is an essential part of the game, which will also skip the Xbox One.

The Medium was one of many games that were delayed, but let’s hope that it will no longer be pushed further back. The game, which will require a beefy PC (an SSD is strongly recommended), will launch on January 28 on Xbox Series and PC (Steam, Microsoft Store), but you can also find the Poles’ work on the Xbox Game Pass from its launch.
