Electronic Arts‘ late-2021 big game got a few rumours, and while they sound interesting, it’s best to take all of them with a pinch of salt.

Electronic Arts and DICE are working on a new Battlefield. That is 100% confirmed. The publisher said it will launch in late 2021, and there were some big promises made that were somewhat confirmed by Tom Henderson’s video. He previously was a reliable source of information, and now, he shared a few thoughts of the new Battlefield.

According to Henderson, Battlefield 6 might use the same naming convention that many other companies have followed. In other words, it might be simply called Battlefield, and Electronic Arts wants to go this way to express that the series are facing a soft reboot. This instalment will heavily be inspired by Battlefield 3 (which turns ten this year), but Henderson did not go into further details. He added that bigger-scale combat will be present, as Battlefield will support up to 128 players, but Electronic Arts has previously confirmed that.

We also expected what Henderson added: the next Battlefield will be a cross-gen title, so it would not only launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC, but also PlayStation 4 and Xbox One as well. However, the 2013 consoles’ version is under development, but at another studio. This port will face a graphical downgrade, as well as limited destruction. The number of players are also going to be limited to 32. Still, if it’ll run better than Cyberpunk 2077 on the same consoles, then the situation will be slightly better. Even if it skips the rumoured battle royale mode. (Battlefield V also had one, so we’re not surprised.)

Battlefield 6 (or Battlefield) hasn’t been revealed yet. It will likely happen around June, during the next EA Play Live event. Until then, don’t take it all seriously.
