Allegedly, one of the employees of the publisher has earned a ton of money by selling FIFA Ultimate Team cards.

VGC reports that Electronic Arts is currently investigating an unconfirmed case, where one of the possible employees of the company is selling FIFA 21 Ultimate Team cards for a ton of cash in multiple packages (and they can cost more than 1000 euros). The publisher told the site that these unauthorized sales can turn the game’s balance upside down (even though these cards will become worthless in a year, as there will be a new FIFA this Autumn anyway…).

The allegations are coming from the tweets embedded below. They show an alleged conversation with an Electronic Arts employee, selling some of the rarest cards (Icon Moments, Team of the Year), who also have boosted stats for the players. The scheme allows this person to access the customer’s PlayStation Network ID or gamertag to add the cards to their account. If we had to explain it with a physical example, imagine if someone either took Pokémon trading cards directly off the manufacturing line or if they got bootlegged. We don’t know if these cards are clones or if they were pulled from other packs altogether.

Here’s Electronic Arts’ statement: „We are aware of the allegations currently circulating within our community related to FIFA 21 Ultimate Team items. A thorough investigation is underway, and if we identify improper conduct, we will take swift action. We want to be clear – this type of behaviour is unacceptable, and we in no way condone what is alleged to have happened here. We understand how this creates concern about unfair balance in the game and competition. We will update the community as we get more clarity on the situation.” It’s still illegal trading.

FIFA 21 is so successful that it was the best-selling PlayStation 5 title on the PlayStation Network… in North America.
