The Polish PlayStation website leaked some details for a short period, but Sony wiped it all… however, it’s too late, as usual.

Back in March, Sony announced that the PlayStation Store will no longer offer movies, TV shows, and pay-per-views from the end of the summer on PlayStation 4 or PlayStation 5. Here’s their statement: „At Sony Interactive Entertainment, we strive to provide the best entertainment experience for PlayStation fans, and that means evolving our offerings as customer needs change. We’ve seen tremendous growth from PlayStation fans using subscription-based and ad-based entertainment streaming services on our consoles. With this shift in customer behaviour, we have decided to no longer offer movie and TV purchases and rentals through PlayStation Store.”

You might ask where the alternative is. It seems Sony is already having something in store (Store?) for us…

The PlayStation Plus Video Pass could be the solution. Sony put this information up too early on the Polish PlayStation page, and thanks to VGC, we can read a translation, too: „A new benefit available for a limited time on PlayStation Plus… PlayStation Plus Video Pass is a trial service active 22.04.21 – 22.04.22. The subscription benefit is available to PlayStation Plus users in Poland.”

The three films are Venom, Zombieland: Double Tap, and Bloodshot. These are all films by Sony, so the company has no costs on making them available… and we’re not going to ask the question of whether this will be international, because it is highly unlikely that they will limit the service to Poland. The service might be confirmed today.

Will this service be part of the PlayStation Plus subscription for no extra cost? We’ll learn the answer shortly! (And indeed shortly, seeing how the Polish text mentioned April 22.)
