The game was exclusive to the Redmond-based company&#8217;s console, as back then, <em><strong>Microsoft<\/strong><\/em> didn&#8217;t treat the PC users or the platform, in general, the same way as it did the Xbox consoles. (Nowadays, all Xbox Game Studios titles launch on Xbox Game Pass on day one, plus a PC port is available for all of them out of the box&#8230;) We have a good reason to say such a thing: the game&#8217;s <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/store.steampowered.com\/app\/847370\/Sunset_Overdrive\/\">Steam<\/a><\/span> version was released in November 2018! Four years is a significant time difference!<\/p>\n<p>However, we need to mention something: Insomniac Games has always owned the IP rights to Sunset Overdrive. So when Sony Interactive Entertainment (shortened to SIE onwards) has acquired the studio in August 2019, they also picked up Sunset Overdrive with the acquisition by default. Still, one and a half years have passed, and we heard nothing about the game, which, frankly, fell into obscurity since, despite all the colours it used.<\/p>\n<p>However, on April 26, SIE registered the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tmdn.org\/tmview\/#\/tmview\/detail\/US500000085983126\">trademark<\/a><\/span> for Sunset Overdrive in the United States. This could mean two things. One: Sunset Overdrive could get a PlayStation 5 version (because the game is done, porting doesn&#8217;t need as much work as creating something from scratch!), or, it&#8217;s plausible that it could get a sequel from the team that recently developed Marvel&#8217;s Spider-Man and Marvel&#8217;s Spider-Man: Miles Morales (both available on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4).<\/p>\n<p>Who knows what might happen, though: maybe it won&#8217;t get a sequel (using a question mark in the title is justified after all), but SIE does have some plans if they trademarked the name.
