We already knew that Gran Turismo 7 would use every available mechanism to surprise us, as Polyphony Digital’s goal is to make the ride feel more real than ever. This desire has been fulfilled thanks to the power of the PS5, where the graphics quality and DualSense controller capabilities have allowed the developers to unleash their imagination truly.

“We have achieved a level of realism that is tangible” – Kazunori Yamauchi

After a long wait, the development team has revealed how the franchise is evolving with the PS5’s technical capabilities in a new video. Series producer Kazunori Yamauchi explains the sensory connection between Gran Turismo 7 and the next-gen console, a combination that allows for a 4K, 60FPS driving experience, as well as ray tracing to enhance the user’s immersion.

In addition, Yamauchi also details the game’s features built around PS5 DualSense, as haptic feedback and adaptive triggers will be felt in brake resistance, for example. It’s a series of innovations in the franchise that will enhance the way the player feels on the road, as the producer himself explains, “PlayStation 5’s performance gives us for the first time something we’ve strived for throughout the series; we’ve achieved a level of realism that is something tangible.”

Naturally, the technical and graphical improvements will appeal to a very large demographic of gamers interested in digital motoring, but Gran Turismo 7 doesn’t forget about gamers who like to experience other aspects of the franchise. After all, the sequel will bring back the concept car variants that the community loves, and with an official steering wheel that’s even more expensive than the PS5 console, it will prepare players for total immersion on the road.
