Jeff Grubb, writing for VentureBeat, talked in his latest Game Mess video about the possibility of The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess and The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker heading to Nintendo Switch, and the reason Nintendo may be doing it is that the Zelda franchise celebrates its 35th anniversary this year. (We should note here in brackets that this anniversary is for the West. The first game was released in February 1986, not for the Japanese equivalent of the NES, the Famicom, but the floppy-disk Famicom Disk System. In the second half of 1987, the NES port arrived in North America and Europe!)

No new port of either game was announced, and Nintendo officially stated that “there are no plans for any Zelda campaigns or Nintendo Switch games other than the Zelda Game & Watch”. According to Grubb, “They want to have a Zelda game every year, and they have been holding onto it. Why wouldn’t they just put it out this year, and if they don’t put this out or some other Zelda thing this year, instead of just waiting for Breath of the Wild 2, I will not understand. I think that this game [Wind Waker and Twilight Princess bundle], as much as it was a joke in the Megabit 64 video, I do believe it comes out in October.”

Grubb added, “I think we get Metroid Prime 1 Remaster in November, and then I think we get Advance Wars 1+2 in December. I suppose Zelda could come out in September maybe, but they already got some games in September, so October still sounds right.”

It is unofficial, so don’t take Grubb’s comments as 100% credible information…
