Assassin’s Creed Mirage has officially gone gold! Development work on the title has been completed at Ubisoft Bordeaux. This milestone seems to have been reached ahead of schedule. The developer has now announced a change to the release date. Previously scheduled to be released in mid-October 2023, Mirage will now be released on 5 October 2023 for PC, Xbox and PlayStation.

“The game is now ready to go!” the Ubisoft Montreal team announced on Twitter. “We congratulate our teams who worked on the game alongside our friends at Ubisoft Bordeaux! Thank you for your passion and incredible talent!”

In an era where video game delays have become commonplace after years of childhood illnesses caused by the Coronavirus outbreak, it’s refreshing to see a big blockbuster game not slip. It’s usually rare to hear of a game going gold long before release.

Although Ubisoft has not confirmed it, the refined scope of AC Mirage likely helped achieve this development milestone.

While previous Assassin’s Creed games focused on an open-world exploration through vast, sweeping maps, Mirage offers an adventure on a smaller scale. This is forecast to take around 17-20 hours to complete. Given the incredibly positive response to this length, future Assassin’s Creed games may take a similar approach.

AC Mirage will now arrive a week earlier than planned. It may avoid the mid-October video game onslaught that includes Lords of the Fallen, Alan Wake 2, Spider-Man, Super Mario Bros. Wonder and Alone in the Dark. Starfield, Mortal Kombat 1 and Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty will be some of the month’s first releases, with Starfield, Mortal Kombat 1 and Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty some of the most serious contenders.
