TECH NEWS – A specific company is embarrassing itself, to put it mildly, in front of the Apple phone-using public.

The A17 Pro chip, which doesn’t look brand new based on its codename, is overheating in the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max, affecting its battery life (or health). According to Ming-Chi Kuo, an analyst, the overheating is not due to the heat dissipation in the internal design or the titanium finish, as in the video embedded below; something else is to blame, and we wouldn’t have suspected it (unless we start checking what’s causing it…).

iPhonedo’s video for iPhone 15 Pro Max and iPhone 14 Pro Max shows what made the phone so hot that it was already uncomfortable. He pointed out that many people are guessing several things, but specifics are not concrete. He did, however, cite Mark Zuckerberg’s app Instagram as the culprit behind the overheating and the battery health draining faster than average. An experiment showed that the temperature of the iPhone 15 Pro Max increased significantly while running Instagram…

When the devices were at rest, the current top-of-the-range model didn’t change temperature, but as soon as he opened Instagram or Threads, the meant-to-rival-Twitter app, the device kept overheating. He also used a thermal leak detector to show the temperature spike. The iPhone 14 Pro Max also found itself in a similar situation after installing iOS 17 and, therefore, doesn’t recommend installing the new OS if you use Instagram daily.

According to a test by WCCFTech, the iPhone 14 Pro Max had 98% “battery health” before installing iOS 17, but after a week of upgrading to the new OS, this condition deteriorated to 94%, which is a significant drop in a short period, and who knows how much the battery health could decline in the longer term.

Finally, a tip: if you turn on Low Power Mode, you can correct the overheating error. It’s not bad as a starting point, but Meta needs to take action on Instagram…
