The site has analyzed new footage recently released by Microsoft and Ninja Theory. The studio has already admitted that good visuals will be important to them, and the result will be a frame rate of 30 FPS on both Xbox Series consoles. We’ve also written about this, with Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II visual effects director Mark Slater-Tunstill saying that it will give us a much more cinematic experience.

On the other side of the scale from strong visuals is the scale and size of the game (we’ve already talked about how many hours it takes to get to the credits). On the Xbox Series X, we can expect excellent visuals, but it will take advantage of the console’s capabilities, and therefore a relatively modern configuration on the PC will be needed to properly run Senua’s Icelandic sequel. For this reason, we’re curious to see how the game will run on the Xbox Series S.

“On the Xbox Series X, it’s clearly a demanding game, but the results still look excellent overall. It’s the lower performance platforms – especially the Series S – that I’m more curious about. Resolution is bound to take a hit, and I’d be curious to see if there are any other S-specific nips and tucks. The game’s configuration on the Series X may also make this one of the more demanding pieces of PC software we’ve seen so far this generation. It may require a pretty solid GPU to manage good image quality at high frame rates – assuming the CPU side of the equation is scalable enough. It’s a lot like other high-end UE5 efforts we’ve seen so far in this regard,” Mackenzie wrote.

Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II will be released on May 21 for Xbox consoles, PC and Game Pass.
