Idris Elba’s Krall Threatens the Federation in Star Trek Beyond TV Spot [VIDEO]

MOVIE NEWS – Idris Elba‘s hateful Krall sends a warning to the Federation in a new TV spot for Star Trek Beyond, in theaters July 22.

In five days, Star Trek Beyond will hit US theaters, and it has already gotten good reviews from several of the nation’s critics. Evidently, we’ll still have to wait until July 22 to find out how fans across the world react to this sequel, but to get everyone ready for this release, a new TV spot has debuted, which shows Idris Elba as the villainous Krall. Nevertheless, this video features a much different look at this character.

We have seen before Krall in some trailers and-and other pieces of footage, but this TV spot shows Krall offering a warning, that the Federation may never see him again, but if they do, they should “be ready.” Interesting, that Krall delivers this message in a human form, and he looks much different than the alien creature Krall we’ve seen in the past. We’ll have to wait and see how Krall’s journey unfolds on the big screen.

Idris Elba already told in that this villain is incredibly complex, and director Justin Lin adds that he wanted a character that will “deconstruct the Federation’s ideals” in a way that still seems valid. Simon Pegg teased that they wanted a “complicated reason” of why he’s such a bad guy, while Idris Elba adds that he’s damaged, but fans will feel empathy towards him. Finally, Chris Pine reveals that Idris Elba brings an “incredible amount of nuance” to the role, describing Krall as a “soloist” and a “nihilist.” Hopefully, we’ll see more footage of Krall in the next few days as we wait for Star Trek Beyond to open in theaters.

Star Trek Beyond, the highly anticipated next installment in the globally popular Star Trek franchise, created by Gene Roddenberry and reintroduced by J.J. Abrams in 2009, returns with director Justin Lin (The Fast and the Furious franchise) at the helm of this epic voyage of the U.S.S. Enterprise and her intrepid crew. In Beyond, the Enterprise crew explores the furthest reaches of uncharted space, where they encounter a mysterious new enemy who puts them and everything the Federation stands for to the test.
