Apex Legends Is Getting Crossplay [VIDEO]

Respawn Entertainment’s battle royale game: Apex Legends is opening doors between the platforms.

Electronic Arts announced on its website that aside from the Aftermarket Collection in season six, Apex Legends is also getting something that people might have been waiting for: the option for crossplay between PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. „Before cross-play, each platform would only play with and against other users on the same platform. Now, all console players will play together, and PC players will continue to play only with other PC players. We want to ensure that keyboard and mouse PC players are not being matched against console players, for reasons that should be obvious. If, however, an Xbox One or PlayStation 4 player and PC player party up together, they will be put into PC matches. This ensures that the console games don’t have PC players in them, but still allows for the console player to play with their PC friend if they opt-in,” the website says.

What about the Aftermarket Collection? It brings new cosmetics, as well as a limited-time mode called Flashpoint. Let’s see its official description: „The centrepiece of Flashpoint mode is the titular Flash Points, massive zones dotted around towns in Kings Canyon. Flash Points are special because they regenerate your health and shields over time to get you healed and ready for combat in a…flash. Learn where these are quick because healing items do not spawn in this mode – Flashpoints are crucial to helping you stay alive.

However, every other squad in the arena is going to have the same idea. These zones are going to create massive multi-squad fights that bring the feeling of a team deathmatch to Apex Legends. Additionally, the circle in this mode follows Always Be Closing rules – it never stops closing, and it will always close on a Flash Point, making that final fight even more exciting. Instead of medkits, you’ll be able to craft Phoenix Kits at Crafting Replicators – for a price,” Respawn claims.

Apex Legends’ Aftermarket Collection, as well as its crossplay, launches on October 6 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
