MOVIE NEWS – Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan star John Krasinski has officially given fans their first glimpse of his return as the iconic CIA analyst in the upcoming feature film. Although the Amazon Prime Video series wrapped up in 2023, last fall it was confirmed that Krasinski, alongside the streaming giant and the show’s producers, was working on a new movie. According to Krasinski’s latest Instagram post, filming is already underway in Dubai.
The image showcases Krasinski dressed in black, armed with a rifle, with the city skyline behind him. The actor enthusiastically captioned the post:
“So. Good. To be. Back! #JackRyanMovie is off and running!!! HUGE thank you to all the inCREDible folks here in Dubai for letting us kickoff in epic fashion in your beautiful city! Here we go!!”
Joining Krasinski in the movie are some familiar faces, including Wendell Pierce reprising his role as James Greer and Mike Kelly returning as Mike November. Sienna Miller (Layer Cake) is also part of the cast. Deadline further reports that Max Beesley (The Gentlemen), Betty Gabriel (Get Out), Douglas Hodge (Joker), and JJ Feild (The Romanoffs) have joined the project.
The film is directed by Andrew Bernstein, who previously served as an executive producer and director on season two of the series. The screenplay was penned by Aaron Rabin, who worked as a co-executive producer and writer on season four, alongside Krasinski. Producing duties are shared between Krasinski and Allyson Seeger, while David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, Carlton Cuse, John Kelly, and Tom Clancy (posthumously) are executive producers.
The Amazon Prime Video series was a major hit during its four-season run and ranked among the platform’s top three most-watched shows globally. While many expected the series to continue for another season or two, the transition to film allows Krasinski’s version of Jack Ryan to live on.

What Could the Jack Ryan Movie Be About?
Plot details remain under wraps, but several Tom Clancy novels could serve as inspiration, including The Cardinal of the Kremlin. This book follows The Hunt for Red October and could be used to introduce the beloved character John T. Clark.
Clark has been portrayed by Willem Dafoe in the Harrison Ford-led Jack Ryan films and by Liev Schreiber in the 2002 adaptation of The Sum of All Fears, which starred Ben Affleck as Ryan. Additionally, Clark plays a major role in Rainbow Six, which has potential as a future spinoff, as producer Allyson Seeger has suggested. In 2021, Amazon released Without Remorse, a Rainbow Six adaptation starring Michael B. Jordan as John Kelly, and discussions about a sequel are ongoing.
Alternatively, Krasinski and his team might craft an original storyline that builds upon the events of the show. No release date has been announced yet, but with production now underway, a late summer or fall 2025 debut seems likely.
As filming is still in its early stages, it may take some time before Amazon MGM Studios and the production team release an official plot summary, trailer, or premiere date. Regardless, this is an exciting development for Jack Ryan fans!
