TECH REVIEW – The Hisense 65U7Q Pro is positioned as one of the most impressive Mini LED TVs of 2025. With blistering brightness, Dolby Vision IQ, HDR10+ Adaptive, and gaming-friendly features like 165Hz refresh rates and ultra-low input lag, it aims to challenge the likes of Samsung, Sony, and LG at the top end of the market. But does it live up to the hype?
In Hisense’s 2025 premium Mini LED lineup, the U7Q Pro slots just below the flagship U8Q but clearly above the standard U7Q. Packed with Mini LED Pro backlighting, Dolby Vision IQ, and ultra-fast refresh rates, this set is designed to go head-to-head with the very best from Samsung, Sony, and LG.
The U7Q Pro makes no compromises. With its Mini LED Pro backlight, Dolby Vision IQ, and blistering refresh performance, it confidently stands alongside the most advanced premium TVs on the market.
From the very first glance, it’s obvious that Hisense went all-in here. Every detail of the U7Q Pro signals this isn’t just another television—it’s a serious contender in the high-end space.
Price and Availability
The Hisense U7Q Pro is available in multiple sizes: 55″, 65″, 75″, 85″, and 100″. For this review, we tested the 65-inch model. In Australia, the regional equivalent, the 65U7QAU, sells for around AUD $1,795. The U7Q Pro doesn’t yet have an official U.S. price tag, but it’s expected to hit shelves soon.
The wide range of screen sizes and prices makes it clear Hisense is targeting the middle tier of the premium market, where competition is particularly fierce.
Design
From the front, the U7Q Pro is almost all screen. A nearly invisible bezel frames the glass with just a touch of gloss for a premium feel. Viewed from the side, its 75 mm depth reveals the serious backlight technology packed inside.
The TV sits on two centrally placed feet that include built-in cable management, keeping the setup tidy, if somewhat generic. The real standout is the remote: it’s solar-powered, so no batteries required. It’s ergonomically shaped, well-balanced, and includes dedicated shortcut buttons for Disney Plus, YouTube, Prime Video, Netflix, Freely, and Hisense’s own FAST channel hub.
Connectivity
The U7Q Pro comes equipped with four HDMI 2.1 ports, all capable of handling high refresh rates up to 165Hz. One is eARC-enabled, allowing direct Dolby Atmos passthrough to a soundbar or AV receiver. You’ll also find an optical audio output, dual USB ports, Ethernet, a CI slot, plus terrestrial and satellite tuners.
Legacy AV users aren’t left out either—there are mini jack inputs for older gear and wired headphones. Apple AirPlay 2 and HomeKit are supported, along with screen casting from both Android and iOS devices.
User Experience
Hisense’s VIDAA U9 smart platform feels more refined than ever. Boot-up is quick, navigation is snappy, and the interface is built around content rather than menus. This content-first design makes day-to-day use refreshingly simple.
Thanks to Hisense’s FIFA partnership, there’s a dedicated FIFA Club World 2025 app. Families will appreciate kids’ content hubs, and gamers will find streaming titles on offer as well. A bonus “Audio Only” mode lets you use the TV as a giant speaker system—handy if you want background music without the screen.
Features
The feature set is impressive. The Mini LED Pro backlight system works alongside Quantum Dot color and full-array local dimming to deliver outstanding brightness and vivid color reproduction. Dolby Vision IQ and HDR10+ Adaptive dynamically optimize HDR based on your content and ambient light.
Behind the glass, Hisense’s Hi-View Engine Pro handles AI-driven upscaling and dynamic tone mapping, ensuring the set consistently squeezes the best out of any source material.
Gaming
The U7Q Pro is built with gamers in mind. Game Mode Pro unlocks 165Hz refresh at 4K, while ALLM, VRR, and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro are supported across all HDMI inputs. The Game Bar overlay allows quick, on-the-fly adjustments without digging through menus.
Input lag measures just 13.1 ms at 1080p/60Hz—a fantastic result. Playing Final Fantasy VII Rebirth at 4K/120Hz felt silky smooth, like gliding on ice while trading blows with oversized cartoon weapons.
Picture Quality
The 65U7Q Pro delivers stunning brightness. Peak HDR hit 2020 nits (measured in a 10% window), putting it firmly among the brightest Mini LED TVs out there—and brighter than many OLED sets. Colors are rich and saturated, while blacks remain convincing, though OLED still wins on subtle shadow detail.
In Dolby Vision, Netflix’s The Great Wall popped with dazzling color gradations, with crimson, violet, and black armor glowing vividly. Likewise, the lush jungles and deep-space shots in Transformers: Rise of the Beasts were pure cinematic immersion. Motion handling is excellent, keeping sports broadcasts and action sequences crisp and artifact-free.
Upscaling
The Hi-View AI Engine Pro handles upscaling with a subtle touch. HD content looks natural, without over-sharpening or added noise. Watching Lost in 1080p showcased realistic skin tones, sharp textures, and smooth edges.
No miracle work here, but it consistently avoids degrading the image—a crucial point since plenty of everyday content is still not native 4K.
Sound
The built-in 2.1.2 speaker system with Dolby Atmos support punches above average. A rear subwoofer brings satisfying mid-bass, while side-firing drivers expand the soundstage. Dialogue comes through clearly, and explosions carry real weight. Netflix’s Transformers Dolby Atmos mix sounded particularly impressive on this set.
The audio field feels expansive, stretching beyond the thin bezel. At very high volume, bass resonance creeps in below 50Hz, but for everyday use, the onboard audio is surprisingly capable. Add a soundbar, and you’ll get even cleaner lows and fuller cinematic sound.
Should You Buy It?
With exceptional HDR performance, wide color coverage, and gamer-focused features, the Hisense U7Q Pro firmly ranks among the best Mini LED TVs available. Its design may be a bit plain and the subwoofer rattles at high volumes, but overall this is a formidable competitor.
If you want a bright-room performer, low-latency gaming, and a responsive smart TV platform, the U7Q Pro is a clear front runner worth serious consideration.
