Mickey Rourke Faces Eviction – A $59,100 GoFundMe Is His Last Line Of Defense

MOVIE NEWS – Reports say 73-year-old Mickey Rourke has been under an eviction notice for his Los Angeles rental since December, and his team has turned to GoFundMe to raise $59,100 to cover his most urgent overdue payments.

At 73, actor and former boxer Mickey Rourke is reportedly staring down eviction. According to multiple outlets, he has been under an eviction notice for his Los Angeles rental home since last December, and he has now turned to GoFundMe to seek community support – with a target of $59,100 to settle his most immediate outstanding debts.

“The goal is simple: to give Mickey stability and peace of mind during an extremely stressful time, so he can stay at home and have the space he needs to recover”, the campaign page reads. The fundraiser is said to have the consent of the star of Iron Man 2, The Expendables, and The Wrestler – the latter earned him a Golden Globe and an Academy Award nomination.

Titled “Support Mickey to Prevent Eviction”, the campaign was launched last Sunday by Liya-Joelle Jones, a member of his representation team. So far, it appears to be working: more than $50,000 has already been pledged. Still, the obvious question remains – how did things reach this point, and is the situation truly that serious?

The Cost Of A Fast-Paced Life

GoFundMe itself only says the actor is going through a “difficult financial time”. However, outlets such as the Daily Mail (via CinemaBlend) claim Rourke’s troubles are the result of decades of excess rather than a short-term setback. As the reports frame it, income from new projects is no longer enough to sustain a lavish lifestyle, leaving him effectively living paycheck to paycheck.

Now we wait to see how this chapter ends, and whether Rourke finds the peace of mind the campaign promises. Despite everything, he remains a well-liked figure for many viewers thanks to roles in productions like Sin City and its sequel, or Iron Man 2, where he played Ivan Vanko (Whiplash). He also reportedly has several films confirmed for the future.
