Lords of the Fallen 2 Under Fire: Developers Say Elden Ring Plagiarism Claims Are False

Lords of the Fallen 2 has been accused by some players of drawing too heavily from Elden Ring, but the developers firmly deny these claims. CI Games CEO Marek Tymiński has publicly defended the team’s work, explaining in detail why the accusations do not hold up.

CI Games and its studio are once again in the spotlight following the controversial launch of Lords of the Fallen in 2023. Although Hexworks’ soulslike has improved considerably since then, particularly after the 2.5 update, the team is now fully focused on the sequel. Lords of the Fallen 2 shows strong potential, especially if it manages to address the issues that undermined its predecessor’s initial reception.

Lords of the Fallen 2 Does Not Plagiarize Elden Ring

Despite this, some users have accused Lords of the Fallen 2 of copying Elden Ring. As a result, CEO Marek Tymiński was forced to respond to criticism suggesting that the upcoming title is “too inspired” by FromSoftware’s hit. In a recent post on X, the Polish executive categorically denied any plagiarism and defended his team’s creative vision.

“I’m happy to prove that yesterday’s plagiarism accusations are 100% false.” Players noticed that an enemy revealed on January 7, 2026, bore a striking resemblance to Sylvester from Elden Ring: Nightreign, or even Artorias. While the similarity is obvious, Tymiński backed up his argument with a screenshot dated July 17, 2024, showing the design existed internally long before it was made public.

“It was claimed that a recently revealed standard enemy copied Wylder from Nightreign.” “This armor was finalized on July 17, 2024, more than five months before Nightreign was announced, and the finished model was already in the engine by October 23, 2024.” “The timeline is clear.” The director of Lords of the Fallen 2 added, while acknowledging that similarities are not uncommon within the dark fantasy genre.

Lords of the Fallen 2 has therefore faced plagiarism accusations, but its creators insist that the available evidence proves otherwise.

Elden Ring vs Lords of the Fallen 2

“Visual overlaps can occur in medieval fantasy design.” “We respect FromSoftware, but we do not copy other studios.” “The armor designs in Lords of the Fallen were widely praised, and we are confident that the sequel will follow the same path.” “We fully stand behind our artists, their originality, and the integrity of their work.” Tymiński concluded.
