Will The Division Get a Current-Gen Re-Release? [VIDEO]

Ubisoft simply cannot keep its plans secret. Now, another project has emerged that the French publisher has not yet discussed.

Originally released on March 8, 2016, for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, Tom Clancy’s The Division will celebrate its 10th anniversary this year on Women’s Day. It’s unclear how Ubisoft will celebrate, but a poster that appeared at the Japanese eSports event FPS Day may offer a clue. Attendees shared images online of a poster advertising The Division: Definitive Edition. Several people shared these images on Twitter, and they appear to be authentic.

Ubisoft has not officially announced the first version of The Division: Definitive Edition, but we know several projects are in development for the series. At last week’s New Game Plus Showcase event, executive producer Julian Gerighty revealed new information and gameplay footage from The Division 2: Survivors and The Division Resurgence. These two games were first announced at Gamescom, and we reported on them last week. What the Definitive Edition of the first game will entail is unclear, especially since Ubisoft has already added new features to The Division to celebrate its 10th anniversary, such as 60 FPS on current-gen consoles, a feature that the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series have had for a month now.

A video shared on Ubisoft’s official Japanese Twitter account details how the company will celebrate the 10th anniversary of the first The Division with a special event in The Division 2. However, there is no mention of a Definitive Edition for the original game. If the Definitive Edition is a new version of the original game intended for current-generation platforms, then an official announcement is probably only hours away during the aforementioned 10th anniversary discussion.

Do they really have no ideas for anything new?
