Pumuckl and the Crown of the Pirate King: The Little Goblin Sets Sail This Spring [VIDEO]

We won’t have to wait much longer for a new game starring Pumuckl, the little goblin beloved across German-speaking countries and Hungary. Quantumfrog and THQ Nordic have now nailed down an exact date, meaning the spring launch window just got a lot more real.

The famous German kobold, Pumuckl, returns in the 3D puzzle adventure game Pumuckl and the Crown of the Pirate King. Players will control Pumuckl as they move through 3D puzzle levels, tackle mini-games, solve tricky challenges, and defeat scary enemies. There’s always something happening in Master Eder’s workshop – especially when Pumuckl is told to clean up. But while tidying, he stumbles on a strange bottle containing a ship – and something moving inside it. Driven by nerve-racking curiosity, Pumuckl opens the bottle. Before he can even shout, “Darn bottle thing!”, he’s pulled into a magical vortex and ends up aboard the ship inside.

He wakes up in a magical pirate world that’s far too big to fit in a bottle. There he meets the quirky, forgetful Captain Krimskrams, who asks Pumuckl for help: the Pirate King has cursed the ship and is hiding behind a magical door. Only golden doubloons can open that door, allowing Pumuckl and Captain Krimskrams to face the king and lift the curse. Travel across this pirate realm happens through a magical structure whose doors lead to other worlds – tropical islands, enchanted ruins, and an ancient pirate castle. Tricky puzzles, skeleton pirates, kobold traps, and mini-games await around every corner. Joining them is the cheeky parrot Krakula, who either offers useful tips – or simply laughs at their misadventures.

Pumuckl progresses through isometric 3D stages, clearing mini-games such as memory challenges, collecting quests, and tricky tasks. A second player can jump in locally as Capt’n Krimskrams to help out. Krakula can provide hints or mock Pumuckl’s bad luck. Enemies range from ghosts to skeletons, and the final showdown will be a multi-phase boss fight against the Pirate King.

The title already hinted that Pumuckl would arrive in spring, but now the schedule is locked: Quantumfrog and THQ Nordic have confirmed a specific release date. Pumuckl and the Crown of the Pirate King launches on March 5 for PC and Nintendo Switch at a price of €40.

Still, she likes puzzle and story-oriented games, like Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, which is her favourite title. She also played The Sims 3, but after accidentally killing a whole sim family, swore not to play it again. (For our office address, email and phone number check out our IMPRESSUM)
