MOVIE NEWS – Robert Eggers’ historical horror Werwulf, which retells the werewolf legend through a fresh lens, has been shooting since autumn – but only now has Irish actress Bodhi Rae Breathnach joined the cast. If the name of the 15-year-old talent doesn’t ring a bell yet, there’s a simple reason: she makes her screen debut in the Oscar-tipped Hamnet, where she plays Shakespeare’s daughter.
It’s entirely possible that Breathnach caught Eggers’ attention in Hamnet – because it’s fairly unusual for a production to bring in a new cast member several months after filming has already begun. In Werwulf, Breathnach joins the director’s favored ensemble (Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Lily-Rose Depp, Willem Dafoe, Ralph Ineson), actors he most recently worked with on the critically and commercially successful Nosferatu.
Breathnach also appears in a new adaptation of Sense and Sensibility, which will reach cinemas before Werwulf does – on September 24.
