MOVIE NEWS – The first full trailer for Masters of the Universe has arrived, bringing Eternia to life in live action for the first time. Following Amazon MGM Studios’ nostalgia-driven teaser, the preview sets Nicholas Galitzine’s He-Man against the forces of Jared Leto’s Skeletor. The film aims to appeal to longtime fans while drawing in a new audience.
Masters of the Universe has finally unveiled its first complete trailer, presenting Eternia in live action in a way audiences have never seen before. After Amazon MGM Studios released a heavily nostalgic tease on Wednesday, the trailer now delivers full-scale spectacle, pitting Nicholas Galitzine’s He-Man against the armies of Jared Leto’s Skeletor in a battle for the fate of the planet.
Over the past two decades, several attempts were made to bring Masters of the Universe to the big screen, but various directors and writers struggled to figure out how to translate the 1980s animated series for modern audiences while still tapping into the nostalgia of those who grew up with the original TV show and the cult Dolph Lundgren film.
The task ultimately fell to Travis Knight, who has combined a more grounded origin story with a fully realized, larger-than-life Eternia. This approach appears designed to satisfy fans on both sides while also positioning the film to draw crowds during a summer likely to be dominated by Spider-Man: Brand New Day and Supergirl.
Masters of the Universe Is Looking to Surprise People
Masters of the Universe has already faced backlash on social media, with some dismissing it as an “MCU wannabe” and claiming that modern blockbusters all look and feel the same. Still, in Hollywood, the idea that you don’t fix what isn’t broken remains a common mantra.
Several cast members have shared their thoughts on the project, including Morena Baccarin, who plays the Sorceress. In an interview with MovieWeb, she suggested that fans are in for a pleasant surprise.
“I think Nicholas Galitzine is going to be incredible as He-Man. People are going to be pleasantly surprised and have a great time watching the film. I’m excited for you all to finally see it.”
While it is still too early to predict how the movie will ultimately be received once audiences see more than a few edited minutes, early buzz has been encouraging. Test screenings reportedly described the film as “awesome” and “amazing,” and the debut trailer has clearly captured the attention of both longtime fans and newcomers who were not even born when He-Man first raised his magic sword and spoke those famous words.
