AI Apocalypse Thriller “The Great Reset” Secures Distribution As Hollywood’s AI War Heats Up

MOVIE NEWS – While much of Hollywood remains openly hostile to the rise of AI, a fully AI-generated feature about a tech-driven apocalypse has still landed a distributor. The Great Reset will be taken to the European Film Market with hopes of securing a broad theatrical rollout. The project feels both ironic and strangely prophetic about the direction of the industry.

Even as large parts of Hollywood push back against the spread of artificial intelligence, that resistance has not stopped an AI-built feature centered on a technology-fueled apocalypse from finding a home with Artist View Entertainment. According to Deadline, The Great Reset will be presented for sales at the European Film Market in Berlin, with the goal of attracting interest for a wide theatrical release.

At a time when headlines are filled with actors, directors, and studio executives criticizing the use of AI in filmmaking, others appear willing to let the industry test the flames of a prompt-driven, computer-generated movie that warns of a bleak future shaped by a technological collapse. With AI projects quietly slipping into awards categories and mainstream circulation, there is an undeniable sense of irony surrounding The Great Reset, along with the feeling that it could be a sign of what lies ahead.

The Great Reset is being marketed like any other sci-fi thriller, built around a premise in which “an AI created by a rebellious hacker plans to wipe out humanity in order to save the only person it has ever loved — the hacker’s daughter, Emma. As civilization stands on the brink of destruction, Emma races against time to prevent global catastrophe.”

Although the movie was produced using AI, director Daniel H. Torrado aims to demonstrate that technology will play a central role in cinema’s future, with AI storytelling tools capable of reshaping filmmaking in the years to come. Artificial intelligence was used throughout The Great Reset, from imagery to post-production, but the team has emphasized that the process took place under “human supervision.” Just with significantly fewer humans employed overall.

AI Continues To Fuel Anxiety Across Hollywood

No matter where you look, AI seems to be embedded in every corner of Hollywood. From fabricated trailers and AI-generated “set leaks” to a growing number of films tackling the topic directly, the advance of AI in the entertainment business feels almost as relentless as something lifted straight from James Cameron’s Terminator universe.

While opposition to AI remains strong in many circles, the appeal of producing films at dramatically lower budgets is beginning to shift the conversation, with some asking whether AI will inevitably claim a larger role in film and television than it already has. Public skepticism about so-called “AI slop” is one side of the debate, but the idea of making a movie for $10,000 instead of $50,000 or more is clearly turning heads among those eager to enter the AI space and profit before the entire wave crashes. With the creator of AI “actress” Tilly Norwood recently arguing that performers must embrace AI or “be left behind,” the divide is only deepening, and there is no clear way to predict which side will ultimately prevail.
