The development team behind Mika and the Witch’s Mountain, Chibig, makes no secret of the fact that their upcoming RPG, Bel’s Fanfare, was inspired by The Legend of Zelda.
Bel’s Fanfare is an RPG with rich, deep exploration and expressive combat. Play as Bel, the new aura cleaner of the once-luxurious vessel, the Witch of the Sea. Belceboo and his many children have been forgotten in the depths of the Witch of the Sea for many years. Now, Belceboo has the chance to send his favorite daughter, Bel, to the outside world, where she will serve the captain as the new aura cleaner. Before parting ways, Belceboo gives Bel a final gift: the Ukoback gong shield, an old family heirloom that can disrupt and absorb aura. While the passengers believe that Bel is restoring the ship to its former glory, she is secretly setting in motion a plan to free her family from their imprisonment.
Master the gong shield for combat, exploration, and puzzle-solving. Explore the many hidden rooms of the Witch of the Sea. Your choices matter. Push characters toward a resolution and experience the consequences. Defeat hostile Auras in expressive combat arenas with surprises at every stage. Meet otherworldly beings. Sometimes they’re friends, sometimes they’re foes, and sometimes they’re something in between. Explore the ship’s rooms in search of secrets. Some will lead you to interesting places. Others are better off ignored.
Ring your gong shield to collect aura flies. Use their power to cleanse and disrupt cursed objects. After all, you’re the new aura cleaner. Meddle in others’ affairs and watch their stories unfold. Attend a notorious wizard wedding, bow to the former Queen of Mara, or mediate a neighbor’s squabble. Find drama at every scale. Hostile aura resists being cleansed and will trap you in bullet hell arenas. Dodge bullets and block colored projectiles until your shield is fully charged. To eradicate the aura completely, you must find its source inside the spirits of key passengers. There, a special challenge awaits.
Bel’s Fanfare is coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch 2, PC, and Nintendo Switch. The game also has a Kickstarter campaign that has already surpassed its initial goal of €40,000 with 31 days left to go!
