Is Leslie Benzies’ Studio Running from the Epstein Files to Polishing Up MindsEye? [VIDEO]

It will be difficult to perfect MindsEye, but who knows what will happen with the biggest failure of 2025?

Build a Rocket Boy (BARB), the studio behind MindsEye – the biggest flop and worst-rated game of 2025 – is still working to fix the game that was the subject of many jokes last year. According to Mark Gerhard, BARB’s CEO and technical director, the game’s latest seventh update is a big step forward for both the game and the studio. According to the patch notes on the game’s official website, the new update focuses on improving the campaign flow, making objectives easier to follow, and further refining AI behavior.

This update includes more target markers and viewpoint locations in certain missions, changes to mission design (e.g., removing an unfair failure condition in one mission and increasing character health in others), and other improvements for a more balanced experience. Gerhard confirmed that the studio is working on new content for the game. However, this seems premature, as BARB first needs to improve MindsEye‘s playability and appeal before exciting players with new content.

“Update 7 is a big step forward for MindsEye and our studio. I want to thank everyone who’s been playing and sharing feedback and our dedicated team who have worked incredibly hard to delight our community. We’ve listened, moved quickly, and are continuing to refine performance, make continuous improvements, and deliver substantial combat and gameplay enhancements. New content is in development, and we’re committed to steady, meaningful progress. Our core focus remains on delivering the MindsEye experience we always envisioned and that our players deserve,” Gerhard wrote in the press release.

If BARB can correct MindsEye‘s errors and produce an enjoyable game, it will be one of the greatest comebacks in gaming history. However, that will require more than just fixing a few bugs. Despite its technical issues at launch, Cyberpunk 2077 has always been a world-class RPG. MindsEye didn’t receive a score of 37 on Metacritic because the game was broken at launch. Even when it was working, players criticized its flawed gameplay, design, and narrative.

If BARB can redeem the game, it will require significant changes. If BARB achieves that goal, the game may be completely different by then.
