Nioh 3: More People Played It on Steam in Three Hours Than the Previous Installments!

Team Ninja’s game has arrived and, at first glance, has been very successful – hopefully this will translate into good sales.

Nioh 3 was officially released and, in just three hours, became the most popular Nioh game in Steam’s history (one hour for each Nioh game). According to SteamDB, over 22,000 players joined immediately after the 5:00 a.m. UTC release, and three hours later, Nioh 3 surpassed its predecessors’ concurrent player numbers. The first Nioh game peaked at 10,649 concurrent players on Steam. This means that Nioh 3 had more than double the concurrent players of the first game from the start. Nioh 2 currently has 41,325 concurrent players. Nioh 3 surpassed this number at 8:00 a.m. UTC with 42,115 players and eventually reached a peak of 70,186 players.

While the number of concurrent players is not the most important factor in single-player games, it is worth considering when a new, significant single-player title is released, especially in this case, where it can be compared to the numbers of the previous two games. However, this is not Team Ninja’s biggest Steam release yet. Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty still holds that title, with a peak of 75,906 concurrent players. If Nioh 3 continues its upward trend, it will soon surpass that number. It’s great to see a veteran studio like Team Ninja reach new heights in 2026.

Nioh 3 may be Team Ninja’s best game yet. The game currently has an 86/100 score on Metacritic, with no negative reviews and only six mixed reviews. Hopefully, this milestone will be followed by Team Ninja’s announcement of its sales results. For the studio, Nioh 3 is the pinnacle of its evolution. With its blend of open-field exploration, masocore gameplay, and a deep dual-style combat system bridging the gap between character and action combat, the game has evolved into a genre of its own.
