Could PC and Console Xbox Game Pass Be Combined?

Furthermore, rumor has it that Microsoft‘s service will be compatible with several third-party services.

According to two reliable sources, Microsoft is considering merging the Xbox Game Pass Premium console subscription tier with PC Game Pass. Tom Warren, an editor at The Verge, heard that the plans are far from final but that this is what Microsoft is considering. Windows Central corroborated this information with its own sources.

Xbox Game Pass Premium can be used on PC, consoles, and in the cloud. PC Game Pass provides new releases on the first day, whereas Game Pass Premium only provides them within a year. EA Play is available on PC but not on other Game Pass platforms. In return, however, there are unlimited cloud games, which PC Game Pass does not provide. Xbox Game Pass Premium offers access to about 200 games, while PC Game Pass provides access to the entire PC catalog.

Merging Xbox Game Pass Premium and PC Game Pass will likely mean the new tier includes cloud gaming, EA Play, and day-one access – arguably the three main features of Game Pass. If this plan comes to fruition, the price will likely increase slightly, though it’s difficult to estimate by how much. $17-18? It will probably be more than that.

In this case, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate could benefit from offering more third-party services in bundles to increase its value. This is actually the other half of Warren’s rumor, although he doesn’t share any specifics about which services will be included. Ubisoft+ Classics and Fortnite Crew have been included in the package since the reorganization in October, so it must be something else.

Xbox Game Pass may be facing a major reorganization, which Microsoft will likely confirm by June. We’ll see.
