Capcom says the base game’s final update significantly eases the workload for both CPUs and GPUs on PC.
Monster Hunter Wilds wasn’t in a fully polished state when it launched last year, and performance problems made it difficult for many players to enjoy the latest entry in the series. After multiple patches, the game is now in a much healthier place – especially on PC – and it runs noticeably smoother across a wider range of system configurations.
Even so, the team hasn’t stopped tuning the technical side. The new 1.041.00.00 update brings additional CPU and GPU optimizations aimed at reducing load and improving overall stability and responsiveness. According to the patch notes, now live after releasing earlier today, the changes include lowering CPU/GPU processing demands and making adjustments specifically designed to reduce the game’s overall load. Capcom also added internal Levels of Detail (LOD) for 3D models, dynamically selecting the optimal visual quality for the situation to ease GPU strain. On the CPU side, monster and endemic life spawn-time processing has been optimized, an effect cache has been introduced to reduce overhead when generating duplicate effects, and rendering processes have been refined to cut both CPU and GPU load, alongside a set of smaller tweaks intended to further reduce the general workload.
The update isn’t just about performance. This final major drop also adds Arch-tempered Arkveldet via a permanent event quest and introduces new 10-star difficulty quests for Arch-tempered Rey Dau, Arch-tempered Uth Duna, Arch-tempered Nu Udra, and Arch-tempered Jin Dahaad. It also brings in the Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection Special Collaboration side quest, plus a range of other new features.
With the last major update rolling out this week, the Monster Hunter Wilds team will likely shift full focus to the Master Rank expansion confirmed last week. Ideally, it will introduce new mechanics on par with what Iceborne and Sunbreak delivered, while adding more monsters and pushing difficulty higher for the base game’s endgame.
