Ninja Gaiden 4: The Two Masters: Ryu and Yakumo’s Story Is About to Expand! [VIDEO]

One of the best games of 2025 – and one of the best action games – is getting DLC soon, and there will be plenty to do.

Ninja Gaiden 4 will receive its first major DLC, The Two Masters, on March 4. We previously learned that the expansion would arrive sometime in early 2026, and the release date has now been confirmed. We have also gotten another look at the DLC’s gameplay, which includes two new weapons (one for Ryu and one for Yakumo), three new chapters, and a host of new enemies.

This story-driven expansion continues Yakumo and Ryu’s fight against the evils threatening the world once again. After completing the main story, players can unlock new chapters that pit both characters against deadlier enemies, challenging bosses, and fresh trials that will test even the most experienced ninja masters. Ryu will receive new Jakotsumon snake gloves as a weapon, while Yakumo will wield a new Solitaire scythe.

Players can try out these weapons and push their ninja skills to the limit in the additional story added in the DLC, as well as around the midpoint of the main campaign. While you must reach the end of the main story to access the DLC chapters, you do not need to finish the entire story to obtain the new DLC weapons.

The new weapons can also be used in a brand-new endurance-style mode called Abyssal Road, where success is measured by your ability to survive increasingly difficult waves of combat. The increased difficulty is partly due to the new Special Blood Essence and Frenzied enemy mechanics, which shake up the game’s established flow. New bosses and enemies also await, although it appears you will have to meet them inside the DLC itself, as Team Ninja is not revealing details about the creatures standing in Ryu and Yakumo’s way. Team Ninja is also bringing a number of quality updates and bug fixes.

If you already own Ninja Gaiden 4, the DLC costs $15, while upgrading to the Digital Deluxe edition – which includes the DLC and some in-game cosmetic items – costs $20. The game is currently discounted by 35% on all platforms. Ninja Gaiden 4: The Two Masters launches on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC on March 4.
