Samsung Galaxy Buds4: No Shortage of Innovation This Time Either

TECH NEWS – The pricier Galaxy Buds4 Pro pushes the bar higher, but the standard Galaxy Buds4 also arrives with genuinely practical upgrades.

Even though Galaxy Unpacked is typically dominated by Samsung‘s Galaxy S lineup, the accessories revealed alongside the phones can still steal attention. This time, the spotlight lands on the new Galaxy Buds4 family, because the series mixes visible hardware changes with hands-free tricks that are easy to understand in day-to-day use – including head-gesture controls and support for using the earbuds as a remote shutter in the camera app.

As expected, Samsung unveiled the Galaxy Buds4 and Galaxy Buds4 Pro, and the design shift is hard to miss. Both models adopt a flatter, metal-like stem, while the Galaxy Buds4 Pro uses silicone ear tips and the standard Galaxy Buds4 sticks to an open-fit approach. The charging case comes with a transparent lid, and the earbuds now sit horizontally inside the case instead of the older vertical storage layout.

Controls have also been expanded. The Galaxy Buds4 supports swipe, pinch, and tap gestures, although the swipe gesture is limited to the engraved area on the stem. The Galaxy Buds4 Pro goes further with head gestures: nod to answer calls, shake your head to reject them. Those gestures also extend to Bixby, and voice control remains available as well.

On the software side, Interpreter Mode activates voice translation with support for up to 22 languages. Samsung also says the Galaxy Buds4 series can provide access to AI chatbots without requiring users to unlock their phones first. Audio features include HD Voice and 24-bit/96 kHz playback support, while the hardware split between models is clear: the Galaxy Buds4 Pro uses a two-way driver setup, ANC 2.0 with adaptive EQ, and carries an IP57 rating, whereas the non-Pro model uses a single driver, ANC 1.0, and an IP54 rating.

Battery life claims put the Galaxy Buds4 Pro at seven hours with ANC off and six hours with ANC on, with the case delivering up to 30 hours without ANC and 26 hours with ANC enabled. The standard Galaxy Buds4 is rated for six hours with ANC off and five hours with ANC on, while its case provides 30 hours and 24 hours respectively. Pricing is set at $180 for the Galaxy Buds4 and $250 for the Galaxy Buds4 Pro. Pre-orders are already underway, and availability in stores is expected on March 11.
