The line about the “next dimension of handheld gaming” might make you think of a Nintendo DS, but Lenovo’s latest idea is reaching further than that. The company has revealed its concept for the Lenovo Legion Go Fold, a foldable-display device envisioned in collaboration with Intel.
Lenovo is looking to push portable gaming beyond its current ceiling. After establishing itself in the space with the Lenovo Legion Go lineup, the company has kept digging into the “console-like PC” concept, and that exploration has led it to seriously evaluate foldable screens as part of the equation. The outcome is a fresh concept called Lenovo Legion Go Fold, pitched as a new way to play video games.
The concept trailer makes it clear Lenovo is not trying to build a Nintendo DS clone. Yes, Lenovo Legion Go Fold uses a dual POLED setup with a folding mechanism, but the goal is to turn that hardware into multiple play styles, from the familiar Lenovo Legion Go-type approach to a larger-than-usual display footprint for this category. In practice, the concept is framed around four modes users can switch between at any time:
- Standard laptop mode. This is the option that most closely resembles the Lenovo Legion Go. The screen stays folded to a 7.7-inch size, with the controls attached on one side.
- Vertical split-screen mode. Borrowing the basic idea of a Nintendo DS, it splits the full display into two sections: one for gameplay and the other for complementary on-screen elements.
- Fullscreen Horizon mode. This is presented as the most immersive view: rotate the screen 90 degrees and it becomes an 11.6-inch monitor-like display.
- Expanded desktop mode. Pair it with a wireless keyboard, then use the right controller as a vertical mouse, and it starts behaving more like a conventional laptop.
“Every world has a story. Yours starts here,” reads the trailer description, which name-checks titles like Atomfall, Avowed, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, and Starfield. “We’re excited to unveil Lenovo Legion Go Fold, a concept product designed to be your gateway to new worlds.” “Taking you from fantasy landscapes to the depths of space, Go Fold, powered by Intel, is your key to the next dimension of portable gaming.”
A New Move – This Time With Intel
The notable twist is the partner choice: after a long run with AMD supplying CPUs and graphics solutions across various Lenovo Legion Go models, the company is now pairing this Lenovo Legion Go Fold concept with Intel. Specifically, the proposed spec calls for an Intel Core Ultra 7 258V CPU and integrated Intel Arc 140V graphics, backed by a 48Whr battery, 32GB of RAM, 1TB SSD storage, and the familiar detachable controllers.
In short, Lenovo is doubling down on the gaming-laptop-and-handheld space by leaning into the foldable-screen trend and applying it to a portable form factor. Some details still need clarification, but the device was officially unveiled at Mobile World Congress 2026, and the company says more information will follow in the coming months.
