The Japanese publisher’s financial report noted that Monster Hunter Wilds has finally begun improving on the platform.
In its latest quarterly report, Capcom confirmed that the PC version of the game has significantly higher sales than the PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox versions. This data is quite surprising: PC sales account for approximately 50% of all units sold. The other platforms (including the aforementioned consoles and smartphones) share the remaining 50%.
“As of the third quarter, PC sales accounted for about 50% of total unit sales, and the company expects this ratio to continue increasing. Accordingly, we will further strengthen our PC development framework. The technical expertise gained from addressing the increasing program complexity and performance challenges of Monster Hunter Wilds will be applied to the development of future titles,” wrote Capcom.
Capcom also addressed performance issues that have existed since the release of Monster Hunter Wilds. The publisher was slow to implement fixes, but the latest patch has brought about significant changes. The game received mixed to negative reviews on Steam due to its performance, but nowadays, it receives “mostly positive” reviews. Capcom explained that they have been working continuously on various issues, including technical challenges.
These statistics are from Capcom‘s Q3 2025 report, prepared before the release of Resident Evil Requiem. Capcom‘s success with PC games is noteworthy because the publisher has not always released PC ports on day one. It took eight months for Monster Hunter World to appear on Steam, and even longer for Monster Hunter Rise, despite the latter being marketed as a Nintendo Switch exclusive. During the PlayStation 3/Xbox 360 era, there were often long gaps between console and PC releases.
This is clearly a thing of the past. In 2021, Capcom‘s COO stated that PC is now the main platform for their games. By 2024, PC had dominated Capcom‘s digital sales, accounting for 60% of the market share.
