Capcom’s survival horror is drawing serious attention – and with user ratings this strong, the Japanese publisher is clearly having a moment with the latest Resident Evil.

A few days ago, we already covered how Resident Evil Requiem is pulling notably strong user feedback on Metacritic. It keeps trading places with one of 2025’s standout releases, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, and that ranking can easily swing depending on which game gets the bigger discount at any given time. When prices drop, more people jump in – and it’s rare for both titles to be discounted heavily at the same time.

Beyond that tie with Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, Resident Evil Requiem is currently the highest-rated game on the PlayStation Store under its five-star user rating system, according to a thread on ResetEra. The listing shows more than 51,000 ratings for the game at 4.91/5, while Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 sits at 4.85/5 from over 92,000 ratings. A larger sample size will naturally pull scores down a little, but the bigger takeaway is simple: Resident Evil Requiem is clearly resonating with players.

At this point, it wouldn’t be surprising to see Grace Ashcroft and Leon S. Kennedy’s adventure post similarly strong numbers on the Microsoft Store as well, alongside Metacritic and the PlayStation Store. You can already call it: this looks like it’s going to be the breakout hit of the spring, given how consistently positive the reception has been to the newest Resident Evil.

One small detail: the PlayStation Store uses a one-to-five-star rating scale (like the old YouTube system – remember that?), while Metacritic runs on a 0-to-10 scale. Either way, the core point stays the same: when a game really lands, it shows up in the user scores.
