The Mound: Omen of Cthulhu: Nacon’s Survival Horror Game Coming This Summer [VIDEO]

Ace Team and Nacon, which recently filed for bankruptcy, aren’t stopping just because the publisher has run into liquidity problems.

The Mound: Omen of Cthulhu is a purely cooperative experience in which a group of explorers must survive horror and madness during the Conquistador era. You and your companions are on the deck of your galleon. El Capitán has given you a contract to fulfill: gather as much treasure as possible, find the missing person, locate the ancient fort, and, if possible, return alive and well from this dangerous expedition. The moment you set foot on the shore at the edge of the jungle, a vague dread takes hold. Treasures and mysteries await in this jungle, but so do unspeakable entities, ready to make you regret ever stepping into their territory.

At the start of each expedition in The Mound: Omen of Cthulhu, players form a group of up to four explorers and select a contract to complete. Their job is to collect treasure and uncover new areas of the island to explore. They’ll need to move fast, because the longer the expedition lasts, the more numerous and dangerous the creatures become. Gear is limited, and the basic weapons are designed to encourage avoiding conflict and self-defense rather than aggressive play.

The other danger hanging over the adventurers is losing their sanity. Faced with cosmic horrors, players gradually fall victim to hallucinations: an ally can appear as a monster (or the other way around), a seemingly harmless plain can turn out to be a deadly pit, bushes seem to come alive, blood falls from the sky without warning… If the explorers return from their journey alive, El Capitán will be pleased, but he’ll immediately offer them more contracts. Inspired by H.P. Lovecraft’s cosmic horror, The Mound: Omen of Cthulhu has squads of two to four players searching an unknown continent for a legendary city hiding priceless treasure.

The Mound: Omen of Cthulhu launches on July 15 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC.
