If you have launched Steam over the last few days, you may have noticed that the application has received an update. Valve remains determined to perfect its PC store to offer the best possible experience to users, and this new patch proves it, as more than a few people were pleased to learn about some of the new features included in the platform. Because we are not talking about radical changes to the system, but rather quite useful adjustments that will be especially noticed by those who like to leave reviews on video games.
As indicated in the official Steam announcement, the platform has finally applied one of the most celebrated features among players: the ability to add our PC specifications when publishing a review. This is not exactly a surprise; Valve announced its plan to implement this improvement in beta phase last February. However, the feature has arrived definitively this week, presenting itself as an option to expand a review with a small section dedicated to the characteristics of our system; something of great usefulness for those who want to know whether a game will run correctly on certain computers.
Now, this novelty comes with an extra. Also having been presented in beta phase, players can now also choose whether they wish to anonymously send data about the framerate their video games register to Steam. Valve indicates that said information “will help us learn about game compatibility and improve Steam”, but it is still in beta state and focusing especially on devices with SteamOS.
Bug Fixes and Extra New Features
Additionally, Steam now includes new settings for notifications related to obtaining achievements, an explanatory message that will appear the first time players select ‘Tools’ in their library filter, and has corrected some errors reported by the community. In addition to other accessibility and user data collection improvements, it is also indicated that already completed demos will no longer appear in the library with the ‘Play’ button; being already finished products, the system will directly offer to ‘Uninstall’ the item.
In this way, Valve once again demonstrates that it continues to work to polish the Steam experience to the maximum. And it is worth remembering that the company is not solely dedicated to developing for its PC store; this same 2026, the team will expand the gaming platform market with a new family of devices where Steam Machine stands out especially. In fact, Gabe Newell‘s company has been one of the major protagonists of the week by presenting a multitude of new details about its console-PC at GDC; details which, although they have not revealed mysteries such as the launch date or price, have excited many players.
