Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor: Get Ready for a Bulldozer-Powered Expansion [VIDEO]

Funday Games continues to expand and refine Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor, which, while strongly reminiscent of Vampire Survivors, still has its own unique flavor. Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor is undoubtedly the best auto-battler game to emerge since Vampire Survivors became popular — it’s not a cynical cash grab, but skillfully combines Deep Rock Galactic‘s mining mechanics with the massive power curve of Poncle‘s action roguelike.

After the base game was released, Funday Games pondered what to do with Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor. Their answer: a massive bulldozer. The developers unveiled Survivor‘s first expansion late last week, introducing a new class so over-the-top that it literally tears the landscape apart.

The Heavy Duty DLC introduces the Demolisher, the first new playable class added to any Deep Rock Galactic game. Unlike all other classes in Survivor, the Demolisher goes into battle with a vehicle called the Rock Dozer. This vehicle plows through almost everything in its path, cuts through rocks to create new paths, and crushes alien insects with its massive tracks. Funday hasn’t revealed the Demolisher’s specific abilities, but the studio revealed players can choose three class mods: Contractor, Gridrunner, and Operator. These mods generally focus on mining performance, mobility, and machine efficiency.

In addition to the Demolisher, Heavy Duty adds 10 more weapons to your arsenal that can be used by all classes. These include elemental weapons, such as the electrically charged Arc Burster and the fiery Dragonstorm Incinerator, as well as automated devices, like the chain-linked Slither Drone. But that’s not all the DLC has to offer. According to the expansion’s Steam page, there will also be two major features that have yet to be announced and will be revealed in the future.

Even without these mysterious additions, Heavy Duty looks like a substantial expansion. It is set to release on April 30, and the price has yet to be announced. Until March 18, you can purchase the base game at a 30% discount for €/$9.
