Death Stranding 2: On the Beach: New Features Arrive Alongside the PC Version! [VIDEO]

Kojima Productions’ game is not just coming to PC, as new content is also arriving for the PlayStation 5 version at the same time. Death Stranding 2: On the Beach is expanding with both technical upgrades and fresh gameplay additions.

This standalone sequel to Death Stranding once again puts players in the boots of Sam, who embarks on a brand-new journey to connect both Mexico and Australia to the Chiral Network and ultimately save humanity from extinction once more. The cast includes Norman Reedus, Léa Seydoux, Elle Fanning, Shioli Kutsuna, Troy Baker, Luca Marinelli, George Miller, Fatih Akin, Nicolas Winding Refn, Guillermo del Toro, Tommie Earl Jenkins, and Alissa Jung.

A completely new challenge is coming to the PC version of Death Stranding 2: On the Beach. For those looking for the toughest gameplay challenge beyond the story itself, the to the wilder mode pushes player skills to the limit in brutal environments filled with deadly enemies, where completing orders will require every ounce of ingenuity. There is no turning back once you step onto this punishing path, but the reward is meant to be something far more valuable than a simple unlock: a genuine sense of accomplishment, along with sincere gratitude from the people you help.

Sam will also gain access to new fieldware, including new Bandanas, which can be unlocked in the newly added Trapped in a Strange Realm mode. This is a VR training area where players can relive Sam’s major confrontations with Neil. Players can also expect visits from the Chiral Feline in the private room aboard the DHV Magellan, along with new additions to Photo Mode that include the same strange feline presence. All of these content additions will also arrive simultaneously on the PlayStation 5 version. Sony and Kojima Productions have also confirmed that the update restores several live-action scenes that had previously been cut.

Thanks to Nixxes Software, the PC port comes with a wide range of platform-specific features. These include support for Nvidia DLSS, AMD FSR, and Intel XeSS, including both upscaling and frame generation technologies. Players will also get uncapped frame rates, customizable graphics settings, super-ultrawide 32:9 support during gameplay, ultrawide 21:9 support during cut scenes, full mouse-and-keyboard support with custom key mapping, and full DualSense integration with haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, and spatial sound support. The PlayStation 5 version will also receive 21:9 support.

Players with high-end PC hardware will be able to push visual fidelity even further by enabling ray-traced reflections and ambient occlusion. When activated, ray-traced reflections will appear on surfaces such as water and tar, while ray-traced ambient occlusion enhances scene lighting to create more realistic shadows in crevices, corners, and between objects. These options are aimed at players with powerful hardware who want to go beyond the game’s existing Very High graphics preset. Ray tracing is not part of the game’s minimum or recommended requirements for the core experience.

Death Stranding 2: On the Beach launches on PC on March 19, and the update for PlayStation 5 arrives on the same day.
