The Witcher 3 DLC: Has CD Projekt RED Already Started Hinting at It?

Although the Polish developer hasn’t explicitly stated what they’re working on, the rumors surrounding their 2015 game certainly aren’t a coincidence.

In light of CD Projekt RED’s (CDPR) latest quarterly report released yesterday, a new DLC for The Witcher 3 seems much more certain, following a series of increasingly strong rumors. For the first time, the Polish studio has acknowledged that it has an unannounced project set to be released in the coming quarters of this year. Here is the relevant quote from the press release:

“At CD Projekt RED, 2025 was marked by intensifying development work on ongoing projects – further details can be found in the section titled ‘Disclosure of Significant Achievements in the Scope of Research and Development’ elsewhere in this report -, continuing work on tie-in products within the framework of the franchise flywheel concept, and continuing the information campaign for the upcoming first installment of the new Witcher trilogy, The Witcher IV. In 2025, we also continued work on our new IP, codenamed Hadar, which is being developed internally by the company based on its own resources and skills. This activity aligns with the group’s franchise portfolio development strategy. In the coming quarters, the studio will focus primarily on further development work on ongoing projects. We also plan to publish one of our unannounced gaming projects. In parallel, the studio will continue scaling its dev teams, adapting their respective structures and headcount to the growing needs associated with our multi-project strategy.”

A few days ago, Polish analysts predicted that the new DLC for The Witcher 3 would be released in the summer or September, which would beat the release of the highly anticipated game Grand Theft Auto VI. According to rumors, Fool’s Theory developed the new DLC. This is the same studio that worked on the first The Witcher remake. The DLC is expected to serve as a narrative bridge connecting The Witcher 3 and the upcoming The Witcher IV. The setting is still somewhat unclear. Earlier rumors pointed to Zerrikania, but now the Kingdom of Kovir and Poviss seems more likely.

In the meantime, CDPR has significantly expanded the team working on The Witcher IV; currently, nearly 500 employees are working on this project alone.
