Game Jawn and Daybreak Game Company are giving a veteran IP a fresh new look, but do not expect a console release anytime soon.
EverQuest Legends was designed from the ground up for players who prefer to play solo and or in a more casual way. While group play for up to four players and raids for up to eight are available, the entire game can still be played, enjoyed, and experienced alone if that is how you prefer to approach it. In line with that philosophy, EverQuest Legends lets players create extremely powerful characters, including the ability to choose up to three different active classes per character, so you can build something like a rogue-paladin-wizard hybrid, while also using new systems to upgrade weapons and armor. As you level up and improve your gear, you will eventually be able to handle the toughest content either on your own or with a small group of friends.
Whether you are a current EverQuest player, a returning veteran, or someone completely new to Norrath, EverQuest Legends offers the chance to enjoy everything the classic EverQuest has to offer and then some. At launch, EverQuest Legends will include the continent of Antonica in its pre-Kunark state and every playable race from EverQuest, including Iksar, Frogloks, and Kerrans, all presented in the original EverQuest art style with classic visuals, zones, spell effects, loot, and music, plus a few new surprises.
EverQuest Legends carries the magic and nostalgia of classic EverQuest, from the original visual style and graphics to the zones, spell effects, loot, and music. It promises a chance to experience the game in a way nobody has seen, heard, or lived through in more than twenty years. At the same time, EverQuest Legends includes a wide range of modern gameplay features, including a streamlined interface, improved spell and ability management, and countless other quality-of-life upgrades. Players can build unique characters by selecting up to three classes at once, complete with all the perks, stats, spells, and abilities tied to each one. Gear can also be upgraded up to +10, while different focus, click, and proc effects can be swapped and combined. With 15 available races and 560 possible class combinations, the options for building the ultimate character are practically endless.
Thanks to the added power given to player characters and the many benefits of a modernized gameplay structure, EverQuest Legends allows players to move through the game at their own pace and shape their own adventures whether alone or with others. Although small groups of up to four players and raids of up to eight are possible, even a solo player can create a character strong enough to overcome the hardest challenges and earn the most epic gear in the game.
“EverQuest Legends is a passion project for me. I’ve dreamed of a solo and casual-friendly version of EverQuest for more than 20 years. The opportunity to bring that dream to life in collaboration with some of our most loyal and passionate fans is truly massive. We’ve poured a lot of love and hard work into building a game that honors EverQuest’s legacy while also creating fresh experiences for all kinds of players. We hope both old-school fans and new adventurers will enjoy the magic and wonder of Norrath in EverQuest Legends.” – said Daybreak Game Company executive producer David Youssefi in the press release.
“I’ve been playing EverQuest since the turn of the century, and I’ve remained an active part of its incredible community ever since. Our team can barely believe we were given the chance to work on our favorite game and leave our own mark on a world we’ve loved for decades.” – added Game Jawn founder Ed Spause.
EverQuest Legends will launch for PC in July, and players can sign up for the closed beta on the game’s official website in April.
