The New Sequel Brought Healing for Scary Movie’s Star

MOVIE NEWS – Anna Faris’s name is now inseparable from the Scary Movie series, yet her latest interviews reveal that she was anything but confident in the beginning. The actress, who became world-famous as Cindy Campbell, told People magazine that throughout the filming of the first installment, she was constantly afraid she would be fired.

Faris was only 22 when she landed one of the lead roles in the parody film. As an inexperienced actress, she felt she had no idea what she was doing right or wrong in front of the camera. As she puts it, she was dealing with “total impostor syndrome,” and she went to work every single day convinced that this would be the moment the filmmakers realized she was a complete amateur and kicked her out on the spot.

In the end, however, that agonizing internal tension turned out to help her shape the character. Cindy’s constant alarm and awkwardness – one of the pillars of the films’ humor – was partly fed by Faris’s real anxiety. The first movie, directed by Keenen Ivory Wayans, went on to become a huge success, and Faris’s performance proved essential to the continuation of the franchise.

The actress says her return in the new chapter of the series had a healing effect on her. On Scary Movie, she was able to reunite with the Wayans brothers, who essentially launched her career, thank them, and, now as an established star, show that she has gained some confidence since the days when she stumbled through the first film as a naive beginner.
